The OnePlus 12 is now receiving Android 15
When it came to Android updates, OnePlus had a poor reputation in the past, but things have improved recently. The OnePlus 12 is now one of the first Android phones to receive the latest upgrade, Android 15.
The OnePlus 12 is now officially receiving OxygenOS 15, a modified version of Android 15. With an emphasis on performance, AI capabilities, and a modernized appearance, OxygenOS 15 offers a plethora of new features and enhancements. With a number of new features, like “AI Detail Boost,” which upscales low-resolution images to 4K, and “unblur,” which sharpens fuzzy shots without the need for third-party apps, AI takes center stage. An clever “reflection eraser” eliminates reflections from photos captured via glass.
In addition to AI, OxygenOS 15 has other features including “Intelligent Search” that can be used to locate specific material in files, settings, and notes. Some of Android 15’s inbuilt features, such the new smart theft detection tool, improve security. Additionally, OxygenOS 15 has undergone a visual revamp that includes updated icons, a new boot animation, and customizable fingerprint unlock styles.
We only learned about the update’s open beta a few weeks ago, so this deployment is noteworthy. The upgrade was already prepared for primetime just eight days after it was scheduled to trickle out to the OnePlus 12 on October 30th of last week. With the exception of Google’s own Pixel, this is the first phone in the US to receive Android 15, while other phones like Vivo and Xiaomi have also received the update. The deployment was accelerated because it’s likely that the open beta was already fairly close to the final version and few bugs were discovered. Just in case, you might still want to wait a few weeks before downloading.
